How to buy a new car

There’s a lengthy post on Ask Metafilter that goes into detail on how to buy a new car with the power of The Internet™ and it’s a good read. I’m linking it here for my own future reference. I haven’t had the opportunity to go through the new car buying process myself, but I have had a few interactions with car salesman regarding used cars. You think that the popular depictions have to be exaggerated but there are many slimeballs ruining it for the good guys. Of course I ended up buying from a private party and still got screwed so there you go.
