I saw a man about a bridge today, 10 bridges in fact. There’s something exhilerating about coasting down freeways, dodging my fellow cyclists, with nary a car in sight. For one day, bikes ruled this town. This is the farthest ride I’ve done so far and most of it wasn’t too bad, except for the climb up to the St. John’s Bridge. That reduced many a spokesman or woman to bowing down to the Grade Almighty and vowing to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat next year. Though my legs screamed “no no no” my head said “yes yes yes” and the extremities lost out. They’re still complaining and are liable to raise their level of outrage on the morrow. Still, for the moment, I am triumphant.
